Treatment of Allergic Reactions (a novel drug free approach)

When a foreign body tries to invade our system. Our immune system makes antibodies like IgG, IgM, IgA to effectively combat the invading antigens. Sometimes, people make IgE antibody, unlike IgG, A and M antibodies which circulate in the blood, IgE antibody binds to the surface of mast cells in the airway passages, nasal cavity, bronchial tubes and other tissues such as skin.

When an allergen in the form of pollen or dust binds with IgE, mast cell-bound antibodies, this triggers an allergic reaction. During this allergic reaction mast cells disrupt causing the release of histamine and other inflammatory substances. Thus, leading to symptoms of breathing difficulties, skin eruptions with localised inflammation.

The switch from production of normal or beneficial antibodies IgG, M and A to IgE antibody is regulated by IL-10 gene. The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine.  Cytokines are small secreted protein molecules released by cells have a specific effect on the interactions and communications between cells. Cytokines types include pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokine. Cytokines produced by IL-10 activation are anti-inflammatory in nature.

Homeovitality has developed a Sequence Specific Homeopathic DNA (SSHD) product to upregulate the efficiency of IL-10 gene, to increase the production of IgE antibody, consequently to reduce and subside the allergic reaction.

It has been recently discovered that IL-10 can even suppress the formation of mast cells [1]. In fact, the positive effects of asthma drugs such as triamcinolone and montelukast are considered to be due to their ability to increase IL-10 production [2].

It has been found reduced activity of IL-10 gene is associated with susceptibility to the development of psoriasis. This fact was demonstrated by Dr. Asadullah and colleagues at Humboldt University in Germany [3].  In their paper authors say “Our investigations demonstrate the major importance of IL-10 in psoriasis and show that IL-10 administration represents a new therapeutic approach.” In the same paper, authors have also pointed out the usefulness of IL-10 in the treatment of other diseases such as multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis.

IL-10 also has important pain relief properties and has been shown to counteract depression [4].

One of the most common forms of alopecia which affect both men and women is due to an auto-immune process which attacks hair follicles. The immune-suppressive and anti-inflammatory properties of IL-10 are recognised as useful treatments for this disorder [5][6].

Gut – Brain Axis and Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is characterised by stereotypical behaviour disorder and deficits in social and language interactions. ASD is a serious neurodevelopmental condition. There are around 700,000 autistic people in the UK. This accounts for more than 1 in 100 people suffering from ASD [1].

There are well over 100,000 children suffering from autism in England alone. According to a survey published in 2017, “One in eighteen (5.5%) preschool children were identified with a mental disorder at the time of the interview, with higher rates in boys (6.8%) than in girls (4.2%)” [2].
